What about Android mobile?

What is Android in mobile?

Android is a touchscreen mobile operating system based on a modified version of the Linux kernel and other open source software, mainly built for tablets and smartphones. Android TV for tvs and Wear OS for wearables, both created by Google, are two well-known versions.

It is available as an open software, with the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) as its source code, that is mostly licensed under the Apache License. Several Devices, however, come pre-installed with proprietary software, most notably Google Mobile Services (GMS), which contains core programs like Google Chrome, the digital distribution network Google Play, and the accompanying Google Play Services development platform.

Since 2011, Android has been the most popular smartphone and tablet operating system in the world. It has over three billion monthly active users as of May 2021, the biggest installed base of any os, and the Play Store has over three million applications as of January 2021. The most new release, Android 12, was launched on October 4, 2021.

Some features of android mobile

1.Interface

Android's default ui is mostly built on direct manipulation, with on-screen items being manipulated using touch inputs that closely approximate to real-world actions such as swiping, tapping, pinching, and reverse pinching, as well as a virtual keyboard. Bluetooth or USB support is available for game controllers and full-size physical keyboards. The device's response to human interaction is supposed to be instantaneous, with a fluid touchscreen device that frequently uses the device's vibration features to deliver tactile feedback to the user.

Some apps are using internal hardware like accelerometers, gyroscopes, and motion detectors to react to extra user behavior, like trying to adjust the display from portrait to landscape based on how the smartphone is directed, or allow the users to guide a car in a racing game by tilting the device, mimicking steering control.

2.Home screen

Android phones start with the home screen, which is similar to the desktop on personal computers in terms of navigation and content. Shortcut icons activate the corresponding app, while widgets provide live, auto-updating content immediately on the homescreen, including  weather predictions, the user's email mailbox, or a news feed.

A homescreen can also be made up of many different pages that the user can move back and forth between. Third-party applications offered on Google Play as well as other application stores can customize the start screen in a variety of ways, including mimicking the appearance of other os like Windows Phone. To set themselves apart from the competition, most companies alter the design and functions of their Mobile devices.

3.Applications

Gmail, Google Maps, Google Chrome, YouTube, , and several other Google products come preinstalled on so many, if not all, Android smartphones.

Applications that enhance the functionality of devices, are written with the Android software development kit (SDK) as well as, in many cases, the Kotlin computer language, which replaced Java as Google's language of choice for Android applications development in May 2019 and was first revealed in May 2017. C++ and Java are still available .

Java or other JVM languages, can be used in conjunction with C/C++, as well as a variety of non-default runtimes that improve C++ compatibility. The Go programming language is indeed accepted, but with a limited number of APIs .

The SDK comes with a full set of developer tools, such as a debugger, software libraries, a QEMU-based handset simulator, documentation, sample code, and instructions. Google's supported integrated development environment (IDE) for Android application development was initially Eclipse with the Android Development Tools (ADT) plugin; in December 2014, Google announced Android Studio, based on IntelliJ IDEA, as its preferred IDE for Android app development.

Google announced a framework that is based on Apache Cordova in January 2014 for transferring Chrome HTML 5 web apps to Android and wrapping them in a native application shell. In addition, Google acquired Firebase in 2014, which provides useful tools for application and online programmers.

4.Developer options

Some developer and power user configurations, like the possibility to highlight updating sections of the screen, display an overlay with the current condition of the touch interface, show touching areas for possible use in screencasting, notify users of non responsive background processes with the choice to finish them , and prevent a Bluetooth audio client from monitoring the display, are placed in a "Developer options" sub menu.

Since Android 4.2 "Jelly Bean," developer options have been buried, however they can be enabled by tapping the operating system's build number seven times in the device details. To restore developer options, you'll have to delete user data from the "Settings" app and maybe reset some additional preferences.

Other uses

Android Wear, later changed to Wear OS, is for wearable technology like smartwatches, Android TV is for tvs, Android Things is for smart or Internet of things devices, while Android Automotive would be for vehicles. Furthermore, Google has opened up the system for use in specific usage cases, like the Android Auto app for automobiles and Daydream, an Interactive Virtual platform, by offering infrastructure that mixes hardware and software  on normal Android.

Mascot

Android's mascot is a green android bot, which is a play on the software's name. Despite the lack of an official title, the Android staff at Google is said to call it "Bugdroid."
On November 5, 2007, when Android was unveiled, it was designed by Irina Blok, a Google visual designer at the time. Despite allegations that she was tasked with creating an icon, Blok clarified in an interview that she built it independently and released it as free source. The robot design was not given to Google at first, but it immediately became popular among the Android development team, with different modifications developed by developers who loved the figure because it was available for free under a Creative Commons license.

Because of its popularity among the development team, Google decided to use it as an official emblem in the Android logo when it was released to the public in 2008.
